The Return of The Above
Local 60s-style garage-rockers The Above have had a rough year so far. Several band members left the group soon after they finished recording their debut album. The album was then repeatedly delayed as the remaining members tried to reform the band.
Fortunately, things are looking up for The Above. We have been told that their album is 'finally reaching completion'. Even better, they are back with a couple of new members. The first show with the new lineup will be on September 4th at Union Pool at part of the next Hullabaloo.
February 2009 New Album Update
New and upcoming releases
Motorcycle Boy have released a newly-remastered LP with nine bonus tracks including previously unreleased material. French artists One Switch To Collision released their debut album "Korrect!!!", but do not currently have U.S. distribution. The Points have released a self-titled LP. Columbus, Ohio's Guinea Worms have a new 7" single out on Savage Records and the Golden Boys from Austin, Texas have released their new album "Goodbye Country".
Also new: albums by La Otracina ("Blood Moon Riders"), Weird Owl ("Ever The Silver Cord Be Loosed"), and Autodrone ("Strike A Match").
Later this month look for the Ex-Humans to release their 7" debut single ("Chicane") and Golden Triangle to release a self-titled 7-song EP. Used Kids and Tenement will release a split 7" early this year. The Above are planning to release their debut full-length album in March. Also look for albums from The Bamboo Kids and the Nouvellas sometime in early 2009. Expect a new album from the Black Lips ("200 Million Thousand") to be released at the end of February.
Also look for the Stalkers to release a music video for their single "In Your Street Today" early in the new year.
November 2008 New Album Update

November saw new album releases by: Baby Shakes ("The First One"), Gringo Star ("All Y'all"), Heavy Hands ("Smoke Signals"), The Go ("Tracking The Trail Of The Haunted Beat"), The Points ("The Points"), and the "Wild About Jenkem" compilation on Killer Diller records.
In the next month or two look for new releases by Weird Owl ("Ever The Silver Cord Be Loosed"), The Vandelles ("Del Black Aloha"), The Ravonettes ("Wishing You A Rave Christmas" -- yes, it's a Christmas album) and several new releases on Norton Records and HoZac Records.
